QBO is subscription-based (starting around $35/month for Simple Start, scaling up for more features) and updates automatically — you're always on the latest version without installing anything.
QuickBooks Desktop: Powerful, But Showing Its Age
QuickBooks Desktop has been around for decades, and it has a loyal following for good reason — it's powerful, handles complex inventory well, and some accountants prefer its reporting depth. It's a better fit if you:
